The Golden Gate Bridge was built during the Depression, under the design of Joseph Strauss and Anton Ellis. At one time the sun and salt water caused the paint on the bridge to blister so badly it needed to be re-painted every year. Today, however, we have paints that last 10-15 years. It is the world's most recognizable bridge.
The bridge is one of the world's most beautiful, especially when viewed in person.
